'raindrops keep falling on my painting'

rain damage......
We were out and about in our coach and we stopped at Cypress Hills in Alberta. This is an amazing location with lots of beautiful scenery. I was excited to get out and to do some plein aire painting.
I loaded up the red towed and headed over to the day camp area on Elkwater lake.

The sky was starting to cloud over. Cloud and showers were forecasted for later in the day. I set up on the shore of the lake and got started right away.

I like to work on two paintings at a time to keep from over working my paintings. I like to work with marks, strokes and patches of colour. I sketched in my compositions and glazed the substrate, and then I blocked in some dark areas.

Then the skies opened up and there was a downpour! I put up my umbrella but even then I still got soaked.

I was actually enjoying the sound of the rain on the water but everything was getting drenched. I painted for a couple of hours and quite liked the developing paintings. But, eventually I decided to pack up and that was when I had the biggest dilemma. I had no where to put my paintings out of the rain while I repacked my trolley!

By the time I was packed, hiked back to the red towed and drove back to our coach my paintings had 'dissolved' by the raindrops!
Here are the eventually dried paintings.

Even with my disappearing paintings I had a good day!
