The Chocolate lilies grow in open areas like grassy meadows, rocky bluffs and open woodlands.  Harvest the tiny chocolate Lily bulblets that are growing from the mother bulb after the plant has flowered in late spring.  Steam the bulblets until soft.  They taste like rice.
