This painting was inspired from the Water Lily studies that I had painted pleine aire.  Once back in the studio the painting just took on a life of its own.  Layers of colours, strokes, marks and textures.  The surface of this painting is impasto and rich in tactile impressions..  When you pass your hand over the surface it feels like, perhaps, the carpet of water lily pads that covered the pond in abundance.
